Common Starfish

ASTERIA RUBENS

This is the most common starfish on the Atlantic coast. It is a big predator of shellfish (oysters, mussels, scallops, etc.), whose shells it forces open with its arms. It then pushes its stomach out through its mouth to suck the inner content of the shell!
