Moon Jellyfish

The so-called ‘common’ jellyfish is found in seas the world over. In fact, this species of jellyfish can live in very cold water (+4° C) through to very warm water (30° C), so it has no limits! The jellyfish has a soft, disc-shaped body, which is 96% water. It differs from other jellyfish because it has four reproductive organs, clearly visible at the centre of its body. Moon jellyfish live along the coast, all over the world. They can be seen below the water’s surface and do not venture into deep waters. They often move in a shoal. They feed on plankton that they catch thanks to their stinging cells. These paralyse the plankton before it is directed to the creature’s mouth.
