Family The Dasyatidae family
Size 2 metre wingspan
This species lives in the north-east Atlantic, from the North Sea to the Gulf of Guinea, in the Mediterranean Sea, and in Polynesia.

These rays feed on fish, as well as crustaceans and worms. During the day, they rest hidden in the sand and tend to hunt for food at night. When they feel threatened, they lift their tail to sting their attacker with their poisonous sting, just like scorpions do.
