This shark is found near sandy and muddy ocean beds, but also near the reefs in tropical and subtropical waters. It feeds on small fish as well as squid, octopus and crustaceans. It is a viviparous shark. In May 2015, six grey sharks were born in the large tank of Australian sharks. It is a phenomenon that is very rarely seen in aquariums, but this was the second time that grey sharks have been born at the Océarium.
