Family Ginglymostomatidae family
Size up to 4 metres
Caribbean Atlantic to the Cape Verde Islands and near the African and Pacific coasts, near the American coast between the Baja California Peninsula and Peru

This shark is not very active during the day, often resting on the ocean floor. At night, however, it hunts for fish, molluscs and crustaceans. It also routs beneath bits of coral for small invertebrates. It is an ovoviviparous shark.
